A person with an underactive PITUITARY gland has a serious problem which cannot be remedied by surgery. The pit. gland is the mastergland secreting ACTH (adrenocorticotrope hormone), which regulates the function of about all the glands of the endocrine system.
Their function should be checked and therapy should be implemented according to the results. The specialist to consult is an endocrinologist.

No, you don't have to have surgery to fix it, they will give you hormonal therapy to get the pituitary gland to operate correctly. It could be causing slow growth, among other things.
