What age is it acceptable to start drinking. I mean, not every weekend, but occasionally when there is a party or something happening that you think would be fun.

I think it's ok for parents to let their children try alcohol at home or in social situations when they are adolescents, like around age 10 or older. This way, children aren't given the impression that alcohol is evil or forbidden. I had so many friends in college (college remember!) that were STILL hiding the fact that they were drinking because their parents never let them do it. My friends were shocked to learn I drank at home and in front of my parents. I never drank to rebel because my parents would have laughed at the idea! Like anything else, it's good to give kids/teens responsibility a little bit at a time. When they've proven they can handle it, give em a little more. This way they are less likely to sneak around or abuse alcohol.

I think the legal age (21) could be lowered to 18 and I think the laws against supplying drinks to minors are good because it keeps the authority in the hands of parents and punishes those who would corrupt the youth and give them alcohol to abuse.

well I know it sucks, but I read this study that said to consume alcohol before age 21 can cause brain damage. Your brain is still in some kind of important development before you are 21, so that's why the drinking age is 21. I don't think its too be party-poopers b/c you can smoke and vote and be in the military at 18, so I think the 21 drinking age is to mostly prevent physical damage. So that would be enough of a reason to me to think 21 is a good age to start.

I think that the age would be 21 if you live in the United States. If you live elsewhere you should look to see what the age limit is.
I would not recommend drinking under this age, I started young and since my parents are alcholics I decided it would be okay to drink all the time also. I had alot of problems.
But then I quit drinking and life got good.

properly it relies upon on everybody. Are you asking about legally or medically? From maximum medical stand factors, that is alright to drink from time to time lower than figure tremendous inventive and prescient from 15-17. This advise a small glass of wine each now and the, like on holidays. i might want to say 18 is advantageous to start up ingesting if you're mature adequate to drink reasonably, the final public of the international instruments there ingesting age to 18 and it does no longer be that if it replaced into so terrible to drink at that age. i in my opinion do not consider Americas 21 regulation, so at 18 you could own guns and connect the military. you could vote, get your self in debt, be despatched to penitentiary in case you destroy a regulation, and purchase cigarettes? yet yet you ideally might want to attend until eventually 21 to have your first beer? thanks to positioned alcohol on a pedestal u . s ., that is not any ask your self distinctive youngsters are smitten by getting there first "buzz". i replaced right into a nurse in u . s . for a lengthy time period, if I had a nickel for anytime some 21 year previous were given hospitalized from alcohol poisoning in there birthday, trump might want to be my slave.

Before this weekend I would have said 21, but I was at a party and met a soldier who just returned from Iraq. He said the military allows 18 year old soldiers to drink on base. This young man was upset that he could kill a man legally, in the name of his country, but when he got home he could not have a beer! I think if you're old enough to fight in the war you should be able to have a brewsky now and then.

Agreed. The legal age here is 21, as well. I think that's a decent age, but it really depends on how responsible the individual is. Some people just should never drink.

i have to agree with all the people who said the legal drinking age of 21. I know people who started drinking young, and you know what- most of them need to be in AA right now! so if you are under 21 just wait till your 21st birthday and drink away there buddy b/c then once you can go to the bars and stuff it makes drinking worth while but when you have to sneak it, do stupid insane immature stuff while drunk well then frankly its just not worth it- really.

I think age is just a number.. depends on maturity and tolerance level.. I mean there are some 15 year olds out there who drink more responsibly than 50 year olds!
