My parents relentlessly call me at work. I've told them nicely to stop, but they don't.

If I tell them my number has changed to a number that is long distance call for them, (we use work cell phones, and some people change area codes to make it more convienient for clients to call), do you think they will call less?

I'm talking excessive calling over nothing important. In dire emergency, they can call me on my personal cell.. but no, they keep calling me on work cell and I'm around co-workers all day .... sometimes my co-workers think I'm getting prank calls since it rings so much!

I have told them over and over again.. THEY DON'T STOP!

I am ASKING, is this a good idea or not?

Plus my father is like Tony Soprano, if you know what I mean!

Yes, it will work if they are cheap. The other alternative is to put your cellphone on silent/vibrating and when you see their number calling, end the call before even answering them. They need to be put in their place. Don't feel bad for being rude.

If you tell them the number has changed and they call you, they will know you lied. You need to establish your boundaries. Tell them that the work cell phone is for work and that your coworkers are complaining that you're getting too many personal calls. Tell them they can under NO circumstances call you on your work cell and that if there is an emergency, they can call you at home. Designate a specific time that you can talk to them on a regular basis. If they continue to call you at work, don't answer and put a block on their number.

They may feel like you're not spending enough time with them or that they've "lost" you. By giving them a specific time to talk, you are showing them that you have a place for them in your life. They'll adjust to things eventually but you may have to take some heat for a while. Stay strong.

Good luck.

Sounds workable to me.

But here's what I'd try first:
1. turn the ringer to vibrate, so the sound isn't disturbing anyone.
2. State that you were getting scolded for personal calls on work phone- mention that the boss reviews the calls on your bill.
3. Maybe give them a call on your breaks so that they might possibly chill out during actual working time.
4. Answer once, and listen patiently, then say, "Is there anything else? I'm going to be on the phone with clients all day, and may not be able to take other calls." Nicely of course.
5. Have your boss answer just once.

Usually it's the children who call all the time not the parents. To me it sounds like they're over obsessive. Tell them you're getting heat from the boss for all the personal phone calls and unless they ease up you're gonna get canned. If that doesn't work then they just don't respect you or your professional duties. If that is the case, then you have some other issues to deal with. "Tony Soprano" or not your father should not be running your life at home or work if you are an adult.

Tell them you're getting in trouble over being called so much. If that doesn't work, I'd stop answering the phone -most cell phones do show who's calling don't they?

per chance in case you clarify that it really is for artwork in effortless words and also you've been warned (regardless of in case you have not) that utilizing the artwork telephone for extremely own use receives you into hassle. tell them that the employer is cracking down and tell them no longer to apply that form any extra so that you gained't get fired. clarify to them that they could call your form for an emergency, yet they shouldn't distract you at artwork. That way they gained't get thier thoughts harm and would provide up so that you're not to any extent further getting into any hassle. nicely, to respond to your question. i do not imagine so. they'd in simple terms call besides and in simple terms replacing the shape would defeat the objective. Why no longer in simple terms say they're taking the phones away or substitute it and not at all provide them your new form. they have your own telephone for emergencies, proper?

If the constant calling persists, tell your parents that your boss has noticed that your phone seems to be ringing non-stop, and he/she has threatened you with being written up (or even fired) if the personal phone calls don't stop immediately.
