Thousands have done just that.
Both in Europe and Africa and Asia.
I hope that Jesus will see my love as it is and I long to follow him on the way of the Cross.

Yes. In fact, we are called to be prepared for that eventuality. And unlike what some say, we don't martyr ourselves by blowing other people up. We are martyred by persecution.

As it is written: "Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone wants to follow me, he must deny himself, pick up his cross, and follow me continually. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." (Matthew 16:24-25)

And

"You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated continuously by everyone because of my name." (Luke 21:16-17)

Throughout the world, there were more Christian martyrs in the 20th Century, than in all the previous 19 centuries combined.

True Christians are already dead to this world. He proved His love to me while I was yet without love. What have I to prove in the face of His love, mercy and grace? Jesus said our love is seen in the love we show to the brethern. Our efforts on the other hand are as filthy rags.

What effort will you make to show Him who knows the secrets of every heart. Why would you strive for Him to 'see' your love? Don't you tell Him in worship every day?

Because of the cross we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus even now. There is no 'following him on the way to the Cross; but rather a cross to be taken up daily on the road to glory.

If you are to be so tested then To die is gain. But do not forget at the same time that To live is Christ. Let it be that any death is the result of living for Christ and not proving yourself; which is akin to salvation by works and will not pass judgement.

There are, from various sources, reports of Muslim conversions to Christianity having past the rate over six million a year since 2001. That tells me that there is a Spirit and a testimoney of saints behind persecution. If you love Him why not serve Him by telling the story of Jesus and His love.

We have nothing to prove to Jesus. He did it all. Work my friend for the night is coming. Sleep in Jesus will come according to the perfect will of God.

If you still don't see it, the command was :"go ye into all the world and preach the gospel" (good news); not go into all the world and die to show me your love.

Would I die for Jesus? If I am ever faced with physical death for His names sake I hope to be able to do so with forgiveness in my heart. I also expect to know, as did Paul and many others, when such an event would take place.

My physical life has already been spared many times in relation to sickness, injury, accidents and violence. How about yours?

Alot of people have died for Jesus, we wouldn't have Christianity today, if they did not, but to die for Jesus is not to die, because those who have given up there earthly life know it is just that there life here, we know it does not end here, when I go, I am confident of Gods Kingdom, as many were, so they were not afraid, We wouldn't have the written word, if the desciples and The apostles did not stand up for the truth, the problem today is you got too many imposters running around dying in the name of a false God willing to murder anyone in the process.

No.

Now go read Matthew 6:6-7. Enough of this "praying in the marketplace," ye hypocrite!

Incidentally, you DO realize the identity of this question with the one posed to Al-Qaida recruits, don't you?

Why in the world would an all loving God ask you to die on his behalf? Of course I wouldnt.

Thousands have died under the MISTAKEN ASSUMPTION that they were doing it for Jesus. But, alas, he is already dead.

I would hope if it ever came to that point that I would be given the grace to be able to stand for Christ all the way to death.

Would you die if Peter Pan asked you?
Would you die if Superman asked you?
Dying for mythical, storybook characters makes no sense.

If thousands have done it, where exactly is the proof that he asked them? Voices in the head (schizophrenia) maybe?

No. If I heard him ask, I would talk to my doctor about zyprexa (use only as directed) to treat my delusional mental disorder.
