shud i use gel or mousse?? if so then what gel or mousse would be good??

This is what works best for me. It helps if your hair has a natural wave to it.
After you shampoo and condition, towel dry and don't brush your hair. While still damp, spray on Loreal Pumping Curls (I swear by this) and flip hair down (head down) scrunch gently with both hands. Now jump up and down to let the hair fall naturally into place. You should let it air dry, but if you are in a hurry, blow dry on LOW while scrunching with your hands.

OR: Do everything I said above and part hair into two (think low pigtails) and then twist and wrap into a bun (think princess leah) secure loosely with bobby pin and then when your hair is dry, let loose and it will have the PERFECT waves!! This works the best if you have more time.

What I do is use a curl defining mouse and then scrunch it. After that, I use a little Pantene spray wax on small sections of hair and then scrunch that. If your hair isn't good at staying curly, use a very little amount of hairspray. I hope that helps.

Get a body wave. They use very big rods or you can get a spiral perm, the waves are tiny but there are more of them. Go to a salon and ask their advice, and they have books to look at for ideas too.

Get your hair braided.
When you take the braids out, your hair will be wavy.
And use gel

gel will weigh it down more. so for the naturally wavy look that the olsen's have i would go with mouse. good luck
