Perhaps in another culture. Maybe she could be the "sacred one" and many others engage in sexual intercourse in order to answer their prayers.

Supposedly that is what people did in Sodom did - instead of prostitutes people slept with animals in hopes of a bountiful harvest.

That's really a cultural thing. There have been sacred prostitutes in history - the worship of Astarte, for instance.

There was such a thing in ancient Greece. That was the loose basis for a modern day church that had orgies as part of their religious rituals about 15 years ago. As the 'donations' were a fixed price depending on which specific 'ritual' you were practicing and 'services' were held at all times and in private 'sanctuary' rooms, the police shut them down as a front for prostitution. I think the historical basis needs research.

It depends on if you think sex is sacred or a curse upon the woman.

If you think sex is special and the best natural high you can have, then yes. I don't see why prostitution couldn't be practiced in a religious context then. It was before.

Prostitution is trading sex acts for money. Since money can't be sacred trading for it can't be sacred either.

Check out how they worshipped at the temples of Aphrodite and Venus.
