I am part of a community service committee and we are looking for ideas of something to do for the troops overseas. Do you know of any good organizations we can go through? Do you have any ideas? Anything else you would like to add?

You should check out an organization called Soldier's Angels.

This is a great organization where members of the community who want to support our men and women overseas can "adopt" a Soldier who is deployed overseas.

Once you adopt your soldier you can correspond with them through letters and emails, send books, send care packages with sundry items, pogie bait (candy), and/or whatever you choose.

when i was deployed overseas i had a Soldier's Angel, and i can tell you it was just the best thing in the world over there. A random citizen whom you have never met, taking the time and effort to make you feel appreciated. Getting a box full of goodies and a letter at mail call helps wash away the stress of the days combat.

It also allows you to get to know one person out of the millions you fight for, and that makes it all worth it.

Habitat for Humanity builds and/or repairs houses of those that are financially unable. Peace Corps,U.S.O., the G.O.P. always supports the troops. Starbucks has denied the troops already and put them down, Starbucks does not support their Country's troops. Try some other Coffee Co. that is willing to help send a Care Package. Kauai Coffee here in Hawaii has sent coffee to the troops.

Go through the Democratic National Committee. Their people are trying to get our troops home.

If you would like to attend military funerals and respect those who have paid the ultimate price for your freedom:

If you would like to send care packages to random soldiers who do not normally recieve any packages during mail call.
www.anysoldier.com

anysoldier is one of the best organizations out there, and you can decide what you put in the baskets and what branch of the service gets them.

You can do a simple search on Yahoo and find a bunch of sites.

Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Mark Levin all link to sites that do things for the troops.

You won't find that from DNC, they loathe the military.
