Depends are you physically strong and hardy. This is important as I know a lot of people who joined and ended up sustaining permanent injuries from the harsh training. Also you have to be able to have people insult you without phasing. This sounds simple now but if you join you'll see what I mean. I was in the Air Force and I can tell you that the physical standards are laughable for that branch. Also go ahead and join if your a women. They treat women WAY better than they treat men. You'll see what I mean. However I have heard that Marines are the closest to treating them equally.

If you do decide to join I just want to say regardless of the intentions of the liberals out there I wish you well and say bless you for defending our country. If not then it's not too bad the country has a volunteer military anyway. Also a warning if you join the Air Force they have a lot more stupid crap you have to do.

If you can stomach it, yes. Look on you-tube for videos of basic training. If you can handle being treated like sh*t, having 4 grown men yell at you and talk about how your girlfriend is being "taken care of" back home, than yes. If not than you do not have what it takes to be one of the few the proud, the marine. (not if you are caught spelling it as "marnies" in camp expect to have the chewing out of a lifetime and maybe even a smack in the face).

Who are the Marnies and why would you join them? Do they like you? Did they invite you?

Now, the Marines are looking for a few good men. Men who can spell "marines."

Now think this over carefully with an ice cold can of Colt 45. Mmm. Smooth.

Check out a documentary called Ears Open Eyeballs Click. It is one of the closest videos I have seen that actually shows what we go through in boot camp. As far as you joining, I don't think that a yahoo forum is the best place to get a decision. Go and talk to a few different recruiters and then talk it over with your family. If you do join though I can assure you the proudest day of your life will be the day you graduate from boot camp.

Unless you speak Marniyan you might be very unwelcome. The Marnies are very fussy towards those who don't swim fast.

But The Marines which is another species they will make you their brother and son.

I'm assuming you mean Marines. The Marine Corps is very tough and demanding but every Marine I know says when they graduated boot camp was the most proud moment of their life. Just remember that when you join the military, even the benefits are great, you belong to a group of knuckleheads known as the U.S. government and subject to their ridiculous orders.

Nope, go Army they pay the same (based on rank), so ask yourself, do you want the prestige and honor of saying you became a Marine, or would you rather have better duty stations, better facilities, and get new/better equipment faster, and still do the same job? Plus the Army offers more money for college, you can pick a specific job, and you have a better chance of a sign on bonus. The Marines... you get a cool uniform.

Jonathan is outstanding on the region of the Marine element. when I went in (1966) a pair individual adult males had USMC tatoos above short sleeve factor and the DI's went loopy on them: they have been recruits no longer Marines. 2 my nephews went in ( one interior the 1990's and one about 2 years contained in the previous) both had shoulder tatoos yet no USMC varieties. Neither were given hassled. yet, both talked about recruits with USMC tatoos get excessively badgered. do no longer grant a hat something to appeal to unneeded interest to you!!!

The Marnies? Depends on whether or not they wear dresses and have psychological trauma.
