My dog Julz is the sweetest little 6lb thing but everytime she drinks her water she coughs like hair is down her throut. I emptied her water dish and put it in my bedroom so the cat wouldn't get into it so, the first drink she took she started doing the same coughing thing...and i know its not cat hair. Please Help!!

Theres nothing to worry about when dogs are really thirsty and they take they drink the first drink of water they drink it to fast so it makes them cough.

Yorkies can get sick very quick There sugar level goes down. Try putting a little sugar in the water and let her drink it. If you find she is still doing it after that you might want to consult a vet. Good luck with you little princess

That could be worms my chihuahua she kept doing the same thing and she had heart worms her doctor told me thats the reason she kept coughing the water up

I had a similar problam with one of my cats. I had to raise the dish up so she wouldn't have to bend down to it. (She kept snorting it up her nose.) This may not be the case at all with you though, so if that doesn't help, a visit to the vet may be in order.

If she hasn't been drinking for a while, hydration could be a concern... you may need to take her to a vet to ensure there is no blockage in her throat.

I would have her to the vet to see what is wrong.
