Show me this deity's word and I'll have an opinion of it.

I've yet to hear a deity speak or read what one has written though.

--------

Edit:

Doh, totally misread the question. 'God' needs to stop being used. The deity of Judiasm, Christianity and Islam has a name -- YHVH, 'I Am Who Am'. Granted, this name cannot be spoken (the vocal tract of the human body is incapable of creating the sequence of sounds indicated in the original hebrew), but a close approximate would be Yahweh.

'God' is simply a word that implies a divine being. Zeus is a god. Odin is a god. Yahweh is a god.

I think if we stopped using this double-used word, a lot of things would be a lot better.

If you're speaking of a specific deity, use its name. If you're speaking in general, speak of deity or deities. This allows for absolute clarity.

And muslims -- Al-lah is the arabic equivalent. An Arab Christian would also use 'Al-lah', but so would a Hindu Arab in speaking of Brahman. So don't think I'm excluding you in this.

Every western and near-east language has a word that is equivalent to God in this way, and most of them have the same dual-use problem.

I think it is the absolute truth above anything else. It was written by Jewish men and so it is misunderstood by many who don't know how the Jewish people talked and how they lived in those times. I think we misinterpret it a lot because of that. I know from my own experience that if you ask God to help you understand it he will broaden your mind and cause you to see the hidden mysteries in it.

Jesus, God's Word in the flesh, is the ultimate love. The written Word, the Bible, is God breathed and His words are the direction for our lives.

I think it's outrageously arrogant to take a general word like "god", capitalize it and adopt it. That's like Ford coming out with the new "Truck."

I think it is ambiguous. It could refer to any God. I try to use the name of the God whenever I ask or answer questions.

Not alot, it's a generic. Calling The Creator God is like me calling you ''human''. It's not His actual name.

That is not for ME to make an opinion on, He is my Lord and I will follow him, the best I can, I know I am not perfect, none of us are, but we better wake up and know the Lord before our time runs out.
