He is a very sweet cat and very tollerant. He has never done this before. When she was a tiny kitten she would climb all over him and (play) attack him and he would let her. Now she is a year old and pregnant and the past week since she is close to delivery he has been attacking her. Also do I need to worry about him around the kittens? Also I dont need a preaching about spay and neuter. I am a big supporter of it, I have just had a hard year and time slipped by and she got pregnant before I had a chance to get her in to the vet. She wil be getting fixed as soon as she physically can after the kittens.

He's attacking her because she's about to give birth- she smells different. It sounds like you might have a problem w/ him and the kittens since his behavior changed towards the mother.
Set up a spot for her to deliver in a quiet room (closet would be better) where you can close the door. Hopefully she'll use that spot instead of picking her own.
When the kittens are born and old enough introduce the male by bringing one kitten at a time to him. Hold the kitten, let him sniff while you pet him so he is comfortable, etc.
Just make sure you are able to keep them separated when not supervised!

Cats are sexually attracted by smell. A male knows when a female is in heat by the scent she put out. Now that your female is ready to deliver she is likely giving off an attractive smell resulting in the attacks.

And I agree, it is probably a good idea to keep the male away from the kittens until you have properly introduced them as you would any new member of the family!

It could be 'cause she smells different, definately. Also, maybe he's jealous of the attention she is getting in her delicate state? Cats are weird like that...they act up when they want your attention. But I would seperate the two cats until you give away the kittens, because you never know how he will react!

If she is close to delivery, it's time to separate them. Momma and new kittens need a quiet place without other animals around.

Well, you answered your own question!

Yes, he is acting 'weird' because she is getting close to delivery.

Yes, he 'could' very well kill the kittens - especially the male ones. Don't let him near them.
