Since morals like "thou shalt not kill" do not apply to God, how can "goodness" have anything to do with him either? I can describe a zebra as "white" but it sure aint.

no i dont think "good" has anything to do with the definition of god.

god is simply the thing that created us all.

could be a personality, could be an energy, heck it could be the water we all climbed out of as fish.

god will or will not exist in its from no matter what any religion says.

There is no definition of God because he is indefinite. You cannot put the infinite in something finite. You need a proper undertanding this principle to approach your question. When a young man said to Jesus, "thank you good teacher", Jesus replied, "why do you call me good. Do you know that only One can be good."

The problem is your understanding of good as that which appears on the surface, appearing good, pleasing to you, utilitarian good. God the goodness of God is infinitely beyond your comprehension. In short: The only good is humility, just as the only wrong is pride. "Thou shalt not kill" is not merely a human moral, it is God's law and it isn't just about physical killing, it's about prideful hate in the heart. We know that sometimes killing is an act of kindness such as putting an animal out of misery. God commanded Joshua to kill all the Canaanites, now that may sound "immoral" to worldly understanding, but think about the Canaanites: They were miserable, sacrificing their own children, killing and raping eachother. They got to the point where they were so far gone and miserable that it was the mercy of God to destroy them.

God created us in his own image supposedly, so we are supposed to do good works to honor him (supposedly). His good, or evil doesn't really apply god supposedly knows everything that has, is, will or will not happen so he makes decisions (again supposedly) based on that.
