1.) It's an extremely dangerous situation to put a police officer in.
2.) It's not politically correct and many people think it violates the individuals privacy.
3.) Our government won't allow it because they're too spun on making big bucks off their cheap labor.
4.) It wouldn't do any good for a police officer to go around asking everyone who looked like an illegal if they had proof of citizenship (green card). There would be lawsuits flying all over the place claiming that the police officers, white or not, were being racially discriminatory to them. (Though I approve of them asking to see the person's Green Card if they've been arrested or are being questioned.)

Though I believe as Americans we have a right to know who is or isn't legal, we have the right to have our lives and rights protected.. We just have to depend on American citizens to do the right thing and report illegal aliens and their employers. Check out the following links for more information:

because is not their job...And to be able to do that they will need the right system=tools to verify status and yes alots of the ilegals get away with crimes and they stay here doing more crime....
And when they comit another crime the Police department don't have authority to deport so they just charge them with another crime more and keep going...
By the way Scorpion X thanks for the Inf.

lGenerally, law enforcement doesn't want people to be too scared to report crimes, if they checked status, victims would be deterred. a lot of immigrant crime is perpetrated on other immigrants.
plus it is the jurisdiction of the feds, and the law is so complex that untrained officers wouldn;t know what they were looking at because they are so many types of immigration status

It would use time when they might be looking for hardened criminals who have parked a car wrong or spitted (spat?) on a sidewalk.
On the serious side...desperate times warrant desperate measures, so they should be allowed some profiling, the Patriot Act and Guantanimo notwithstanding.

Big corporations have the U.S government in the palm of their hand, its all about corporate greed nowadays. Thats why bank america is giving credit cards to illegals. The U.S government is so corrupt that they have lost all their credibility.

Because that would be racial profiling.
