I have 3 children. I was induced with all 3 at a hospital. With my 1st two I was hooked up to an IV of a medicine called Pitocin, it stimulates the uterus to contract. It is a very powerful medication. The docs and nurses moniter you closely. With my 3rd child I went in the night before and they used a vaginal medication called cervadil (spelling might be off). That med is supposed to "prepare" or soften your cervix. I slept the night there and in the morning they started the Pitocin IV. I had my bag of waters broke with all 3 labors. Everyone's labor progress is different, I was in labor for 18(+) hours w/ baby#1, 9(+) hours w/ baby #2, and 7(+) hours w/ baby #3. You need to request pain relief when you fell necessary. Everyone has a different pain threshold. All 3 of my induced labors were born vaginally. Good luck to you. It is intense but you forget almost immediately after your baby is born. Maybe it's just the relief of it being over?
