The angels come and take the person soul. Then angels will ask him/her about what deeds he did in the world. If he believed on one God (ALLAH) in world and last prophet Muhammad(PBUH) and had done good deeds in the world. He will be given reward and punishments to other.
Actually our body is nothing without soul. Soul will feel all the punishment. Just read Quran ALLAH book revieled on Muhammad (PBUH) and u will know all and the truth.

Once we die it all depends on weather you accept God as your savior or not. If you do, and you ask for forgiveness, you will be forgiven and will be able to live in peace after death.
