Are they considered alcoholics?
I was under the impression, that an alcoholic is someone who "needs" to drink everyday.
Is being a binge drinker considered the same??

basically "they" think everyone who drinks is an alcoholic. if you binge drink, your an alchie. if u drink to get drunk, your an alchie. if you only have one drink one time a week, but you HAVE to have that drink your an alcoholoic. i think you yourself need to decide if it's a problem, i don't believe the so called experts.

No. An alcoholic is someone who 'needs' to drink each day. If they don't they feel depressed and sick, and don't do much. A binge drinker is different, and it is not necessarily someone who 'needs' alcohol. However, binge drinking can be very dangerous also.

an alcoholic is not necessarily someone who needs alcohol. an alcoholic could be someone who cant stop drinking once starting, or one who drinks an excessive amount to get drunk. so yes a binge drinker would be considered an alcoholic. binge drinking is often a gateway to full blown alcoholism.

My understanding og binge drinking is basically when someone just drinks until they pass out, maybe on the weekend or something. Now, if they are doing this on a nightly basis, then that's just plain alcoholism. The line is not necessarily drawn, its kind of blurred. Either way, its not good for you.

If somebody spends a week on the floor drunk and then gets too sick to continue drinking, and takes two weeks off before doing it again, are they an alcoholic? Does a bear sleep in the woods?
