Yes, you can type in tongues because tongues is simply talking in a different language. However, there is a heavenly language and a lot of Christians believe that this is the only way to speak in tongues. I, however, do not. People can speak in tongues (in a different language) to minister (or transfer a message if you will) to one person or a group of people in the congregation. Most times, when a message is delivered in tongues, there is an interpretation. However, during the times when it is simply for that one person or group of people to hear in that specific language, there are times when the message is not interpreted. Of course, I am speaking from a "Pentecostal -- Christian" point of view. Many people have many other opinions including some "Pentecostal -- Christian" people. Denominations are weird in that aspect of "religion".

Paul warned the church in corinth about performing tongues, which you are asking people to do. Tongues is a language between you and God. Putting it on display to show off is sin. I don't know why anyone would speak tongues into a microphone. It does not edify the church as Paul says in his letter to Corinthians. Keep it biblical.

I like Salahuldi...'s answer.

The gift of tongues means the ability to speak in another language (sometimes it comes instantly, sometimes just through miraculously fast learning).

Salahuldi can type in the "tongue" of Spanish. Eu posso fazer o mesmo em Portugues (I can do the same in portuguese).

Since the actual speaking in tongues was the disciples being understood by various people of various languages simultaneously, you would need the same thing to happen in type. People who speak in tongues don't need to have translators.

Now since most of use have computers that can download programs that will do translation from other languages, I suppose it is possible.
