I am sure everyone has the ability to do good things - what is the nicest/kindest thing you have done for someone other than yourself?

I sell horses for a living and was once taken in by a total con artist who managed to wangle horses out of many of my freinds in a short space of time. He sold all the horses including mine and so they were officially stolen. The police found my horse and took me to identify it.........the horse was now "owned" by a teenage girl who loved it dearly..........I WALKED AWAY. To this day the girl is none the wiser..the police thought i was mad....but would you have tried to explain to a little girl that you were taking her pride and joy away because she had unwittingly purchased something she had no legal right to keep?

Well, I don't know if this is the nicest thing I have ever done but just now I got this letter for the former tenants in my office. The letter was open so I was able to see inside. It was a young ladies resume with a cover letter, she was in law school and was trying for an intern at a lawyers office. Too bad for her they have moved and my company is now in this location. I went online and found the lawyers new address and placed a label over the original and popped in the mail. Somehow, I felt really bad for the girl.

This is a tough question...
I mean, I'm sure I have done some nice things for people in the past, whether it was a gift or a meal or a kind word or whatever...
But narrowing it down to one uber nice event is hard to do...

I guess the nicest thing I have done for someone else was as much for me as it was for them - my wife and I have a beautiful family, our children are well mannered and respectful, and we have a loving home. My wife did not have anything like this growing up, and lived in poverty in a broken family. She reminds me quite often of how happy she is and how much she loves me, loves us.

I can't do any better than that. :)

I attempt to do kind things all the time for people, not necessarily large or memorable, but important none the less.

The most kind thing of life shaking proportions was when I befriended and adopted a large black lab mix who turned up in our street on a hot day. It took a month of patient work with him living under my neigbor's work trailor, but with kindness. love, and making sure he had food and water, the miracle happened.
This almost grown puppy has now been with my older dog and I (also a lab mix) for nearly a year and a half.
It is as though he was always here with us.

So, easily put: To me, I saved a life, and that makes it the big one.

Just about 12 years ago, I had my 10-year reunion for high school and reacquainted myself with a very lovely young lady (who I had had the hots for). After the reunion, about a year later, she was coming up to NYC to visit her parents and we arranged to meet and go out. Needless to say I got stuck with a very long drawn out work issue that carried me through the weekend.

The nicest thing I did, was call her on Sunday evening to make sure that they had gotten back home to Virginia safely. My thoughtfulness got me an invite to Virginia and now she and I are coming up on our 10th wedding anniversary.

o.k this is a recent thing and it was for a stranger too!

As I was driving to lunch a few weeks ago when it was -15 degrees out...I saw this girl in a skirt and boots walking down the side of the road to the other business park. She looked really cold....so I pulled over and gave her a ride to the other business park down the road. It was way too cold to be walking out there even it was down the street a bit.

a couple of young college age people came into the store where I work and said they spent all their money snow skiing and had no money for gas to get home. I wanted to tell them they were stupid and they should have to call their parents for the cash. I thought about what my parents would have said / done...I gave them $30 that they claim they would mail me. I told them not to mail it but to remember it.
