Because of the HUGE amount of sodium in it. It does make food taste (artificially) flavorful and good, but you are so right. It is definitely not good for you in any way, shape or form. It is a good thing that you are reading labels. If you could avoid canned soups altogether, that would be good, too. Can you get to a Whole Foods store? They have freshly made soups that believe it or not, you can freeze and then heat up again later. I take a piece of masking tape and write with a black magic marker on the top or the side (or both) the date and the type of the soup that is in the container. And yes, they are expensive. But when it comes to your health and you consider the alternative(s), then maybe paying a good bit of money for healthy food up front, instead of hospital bills later when one's health breaks down - it does not seem like such a bad investment after all.

MSG triggers allergies and makes your body more susceptible to develop allergies and makes these health problems more severe. It took some adjusting, but I feel much better since eliminating msg from my diet. I was taking allergy shots three times a week and meds daily. Now I'm off all of it!!

You're assuming that it is"bad" for you. You've bought into the misinformed hype.
MSG is yet but another compound that American Food Neurosis has banned as "evil."
For starters, there is no scientific evidence that it is "bad" for you which is why it is not banned by the FDA.
And the crap about sodium being "bad" for you is BS as well:

Too much sodium, and a lot of people are allergic to it. It needs to be banned in commercial foods.
