My girlfriend has never really had a boyfriend before me. In her last year of college, she was obsessed with a guy named Frank. Frank led her on and then turned her down on the last day of school. This guy is always on her mind as a mental obsession. All of her friends were in on trying to hook the two people up, but it still failed.

Today, I messaged the guy on instant messenger. I pretended I was a SPAM bot and apparently he thought I was someone else. He then messaged me from a different screen name and we talked (with me, not knowing who he thinks I am, guessing wildly at what the other guy thinks I would be answering). Long story short, it turns out that her obsession is a homosexual. He is really nerdy and has been "being mean" to girls as a sort of revenge of the nerds in person.

Question is, should I tell her all of this?

JBoy I am in college. I treat her really well. We even live together. I can prove that he's gay because I saved all of the instant message conversations

I understand. Tell her, but not the entire story of how you found out.

It sounds like you may be a little obsessed too ... Why would you feel the need to harass some random guy your girlfriend liked it sounds like a while ago? Stalking some guy online and then talking about it here shows that you have some serious issues. The question you should be asking is if anyone knows a good psych since you are obviously in need.

No.

You sound like you're in college or past it, how old are you acting? Try a bit of maturity here. She's your girlfriend, she's with you. You cannot possibly come out of this as the good guy if you tell her, how is she going to know you're telling the truth? How will she feel about you going behind her back and talking to this guy, and feeling so smug about it? You got the girl, now show her you're worth her hanging about, instead of sticking your tongue out at the guy like the school yard days. Get on with your relationship, bringing this stuff up cannot help.

I wouldn't admit to my girlfriend that you appear to be stalking someone she either used to have feelings for, or has feelings for now. At the same time I would take a look at your own self-confidence and insecurities to try and figure out why you are so obsessed with this guy.

It's bad enough that she still obsesses about him...telling her that she's been obsessing over a homosexual male might put her over the edge! Let it go...

No.

Anyway . . . your "facts" aren't 100% substantiated, so why stick your nose into something and possibly muck it up? 'Cause if you're even 0.01% wrong, you stand a very good chance of ruining your relationship with her. What's more important to you: being happy or being right?

Hmm.. that is really messed up.. First of all, why are you with someone who is obviously very obsessed with someone else? But yeah, I would tell her. I'm not so sure it'll change her mind, but maybe it will help her get over it. Idk... weird!
