I have just got one of these little gadgets, a Boiley Microwave Egg Boiler, but someone has just said that Microwaving eggs causes them to explode. Has anyone used a Egg boiler for the Microwave before, and how safe are they?

pretty safe - but they make the egg rubbery. just boil it, pre boil the water in a kettle, put on heat, drop in eggs, time to your desired hardness and enjoy. Shortcuts ruin food.

i think they refer to an egg boiler as like a poached egg and without the shell as placing an actual egg in your microwave can be quite dangerous. if the egg don't explode during cooking, it can explode when the door opens and cold air enters the microwave causing horrific burns to the person who opens the door! don't forget microwave ovens will carry on cooking the product for up to 60 seconds after the microwave has finished
you need to be very careful when doing this.

I've had traumatic experiences with cooking eggs in the microwave, i don't think eggs were designed to go in there. Caution if you don't want egg particles blasted everywhere I suggest the old fashion way.

You can boil an egg in under 5 minutes (depending on the altitude of your kitchen) if you put it in a pan of boiling water. Why use a micro wave?
