calling me at work?

My parents relentlessly call me at work. I've told them nicely to stop, but they don't.

If I tell them my number has changed to a number that is long distance call for them, (we use work cell phones, and some people change area codes to make it more convienient for clients to call), do you think they will call less?

I'm talking excessive calling over nothing important. In dire emergency, they can call me on my personal cell.. but no, they keep calling me on work cell and I'm around co-workers all day .... sometimes my co-workers think I'm getting prank calls since it rings so much!

Is it possible to put the work cell on vibrate, let the calls go to voice mail, call clients back right away and don't call your parents back at all? After awhile, they should get the message. And if they don't, explain to them exactly why you don't and won't call them back. You don't want to lose your job over this, or your sanity!

Your parents need to realize that you've grown up, and that you have a job that they are interfering with. They could potentially lose you your job, depending on how your company's cell phone plan works.

Some charge by the incoming call -- if your parents are costing your company money and the company finds out about it, they will not hesitate to discipline or terminate you. Your parents aren't being friendly or chatty, they're potentially endangering your job.

Try one more time to lay down the line for them to stop calling you at work. And then if they continue, use the option to change the area code on your work cell phone, but simply refuse to give it to them. They have your personal number, they can use that instead, as it should be.

Tell them that your boss has spoken to you about personal calls that you have been getting. Tell them that your boss told you that if you get anymore like this then they will have to fire you because they did not hire you for this job just so you can gab all day on the phone. Tell your parents that they need to stop calling you and if it continues you may get fired and will have to move back in with them to save money. Sometimes guilt is the best solution.

That's pretty bad, the whole long distance thing may work but you can also tell them that your supervisor spoke to you (white lie) and asked that you no longer receive out side calls during work hours. If they cant understand that then they have a major problem.
