I'm on leave in southeast asia, going back to Iraq for a second tour in two weeks. Sick guarding oil tanker convoys and risking my life for private contractors. I signed up to serve my country, not global capitalism and Bush/Cheney corporate greed. Any other servicemen out there who found a way out of this? Any suggestions?

A buddy of mine who was extended way past his retirment broke his ankle playing football while in Iraq, got him 3 months in Seatlle and then he was reassigned to an MWR unit folding towels in a gym. Bring your football with you when you go back!

(and dont listen to the neo christian conservatives telling you that you signed a friggin contract and to stay and 'fight' for their political ideology - they wouldnt know war if it jumped up and smacked them in the face.....and they could care less about you man)

Wow your question really brought the whackos out of the woodwork didn't it? Sorry dude you will have to finish the tour. You don't mess with uncle sam. When he gets you under contract it's the most serious kind.

But if you feel strongly about what going on over there - keep being vocal like you did with this question. Keep reminded people that we aren't rebuilding s*** we are just being used as the lowest priority security detail for corporations we didn't like in the first place.

I would think that a person trained in the use of the weapons at your disposal could find a way to "check out." Maybe the girl scouts are looking for some new members, although the girl scouts I know don't whine as much as you. Were you drafted?

Strap a dildo to your forehead and run into the Officer's Mess stamping your foot and snorting...telling them "i'm a Rhinoceros!"

Might get you out of there as a nut case

There's another soldier that I saw in the news that openly refused to be stationed in Iraq. A very intelligent sounding man. Maybe his story can offer you some inspiration.
