i've always wanted my teeth to be reallyyy straight, even though everyone says their fine and my dentist/mom won't let me get them becuase she says its a waste of money because i dont need them. so i figured how about a retainer? now obviously im going to talk to my dentist about it but i just wanted a general opinion on whether or not it would be usefull at all...and if its even possible.

thanks for the help =]

The retainer is really only used after braces to "retain" the position of the teeth. I'm not sure why you would think it would help, because it wouldn't move your teeth to the position you want them, it would only keep them the way they are currently.

I think its not a very good idea because retainers are for RETAINING the position of teeth AFTER wearing braces. I have seen people who used retainers only , have their teeth turn out worse than they originally were. take heed!

Probably not. A retainer is mainly used to keep your teeth from shifting. Next time you go to the Dentist ask his/her opinion on it.

Yes my older brother got a retainer without previously having braces.

Yes, there are also other over the counter products for straitening teeth. I believe Invisalign is the name of one.
