You will need primer, your base paint color, brushes for trim work, a roller, and tape for the trim. Depending on how dark the color, you will have to do 2 to 3 coats (not including the primer).
From experience, I've found more expensive, better quality paints are MUCH better. For instance, I painted our bedroom green with inexpensive paint from Wal-Mart, and when I removed the trim tape the paint started to pull up! It was very frustrating.
You can probably get away with 1 gallon of paint for the room, but always ask the retailer just in case.
You could probably paint the room for about $50, depending on what materials you need and which ones you already have.

If you do it yourself the cost of paint and good paint usually cost 20.00 and upbut you also have to have good paint brushes that would be another 20.00 I paint our bedroom kitchen laundry room kitchen and it cost less then 60.00

My one suggestion is to use THE BEST QUALITY PAINT POSSIBLE. The labor is the same for cheap or high quality. The quality paint will be washable and last much much longer.
