I've tried moose, and I'm not sure what else to use, I've never had a perm before and don't really know what to do, I would like soft curl that don't go hard and look natural. thanks.

go to the health food store, buy a bottle of aloe vera gel. it will be clearish and a little lumpy. when your hair is damp, put a 50 cent size plop of it in your palm, squish it around, put it in your hair and comb it through. you might need more, depends how long your hair is. style your hair where you want it, let it dry. it will not be smelly, greasy, or sticky. then, comb your fingers through your hair, or use a very wide tooth comb. there you go. the aloe will style your hair, keep it where you want it to be, will not be frizzy, and if that is not enough, will strengthen your hair, and make it very shiny..
good luck....

Pantene makes a good curl moose. The trick is to put it in an keep scrunching your hair periodically as it air dries or to dry it with a diffuser and scrunch it while you dry it. I personally like gel better than moose and it gives a shiner more natural finish. Herbal essences makes a good gel, so does pantene and garnier. The same goes for gel though. If you don't scrunch it as it dries a little it will get stiff. If you can't get the look with either of those then try a curl cream, or a combination of gel and a curl cream.

you will have the same problem with gels. and less is always better - so experiment with that - but the following will not leave your hair stiff.

use 1. bumble and bumble surf spray
2.tigi has cat walk - curls rock (may leave it a little hard - but its soft and will scrunch right out- don't use too much
3.Frederic Fekkai Wave Spray
4. got 2 b curl up gel or spray (all of their stuff is not as $$ and just as good.)
5. perm fresh by matrix is also real good. all of these sprays can be used through the day - go easy tho!

all of above will enhance/define the curls. use the bumble and frederic sprays just as u near finsih drying- 80% dry. then scrunch.

It sounds like you are also letting it dry natuarlly - just lightly blow dry it and that would also help bang out that some of that stiffness providing you dont want to/can't buy/try other products. so if that's the case- use your mousse - lightly blow dry - (let the curls set first) when finished- to help restore the curls use the affordable got 2 b curl spray to define.

as for $$$- start with the drug store brands - anything that says "curl." but i will tell u the bumble, fred. and tigi lines are GOOD. you will use a little less, too.

i need to know style/cut and texture of hair to offer even other advice/ apps before you dry. i also need to know if you want tight curls or loose? Is frizz a problem? Good luck - and you will figure it out soon.

Check out the link below. It's hard to find, only some drug stores have it (I've been trying to find it again myself) I haven't had a perm in a million years but when I want those curls to come out, I spray my hair generously with this and then this is the important part, use a diffuser and put it on the lowest setting and dry your hair. The KEY to getting nice soft curls is to NOT touch your hair. Not too many people realize when you use a diffuser, the MORE you touch your hair, the more frizzy it will become. Simply hold the diffuser to sections of your hair and dry. It takes a lot of patience but you get a nice, soft and natural looking curl. And it smells awesome too. Good luck!

Wash your hair with Bumble and Bumble volumizing shampoo and conditioner. That works great to keep the fullness of the curls. Or, go for a cheaper and just as good alternative, like Ion (available at Sally's beauty Supply stores). They have a whole line for curly hair and it is wonderful!

After washing your hair use a leave in conditioner spray if your hair is really damaged and dry.

When you are done styling use Biosilk (it's an "silkening oil")... it's like frizz ease but doesn't grease out your hair as much... yet it's quite pricey... sinc eyou only use a tiny amount it is well worth the money... pour a TINY drop about the size of a dime into your plams and rub them together. Then, flip your head down and smooth your hair between your palms from the middle of your hair down to the ends. Stay away from the roots...

Your hair should look awesome!

:)

That's odd.

I have naturally curly hair and I can only use mousse. Gel makes it hard.

You might want to try a leave in conditioner, Wet (Paul Mitchell), or Potion 7 (Sebastian?).

One of my favorite tricks to keeping my curls happy is to use conditioner in the shower, detangle and comb it, rinse most of the conditioner out (not all), and then just use my fingers for putting in the mousse. I never comb my hair once I'm out of the shower.

Good luck!

I used to use a little mouse/gel & Proclaim hair gloss. Put the mouse/gel on your hair (Make sure you get it everywhere; Combing it through while hair is wet works good) & let it dry some. put some hair gloss in your hand & rub hands together. Then scruch it through your hair. I'd blow dry some & add a little more mouse/gel then hair gloss again. This make your hair soft & shiny. Also Sunsilk Hydra TLC has a gel/leave in conditioner that works good for curly hair. Just apply a small amount to your hands & scruch through hair.

You can get Proclaim for $4.99 at Sally's Beauty Supply.

I use "Perm Refresh" by Matrix. I have to purchase it from the salon. I really like it, it smells really clean, leaves hair soft and curls stay natural.

try frizz-ease ~ it's not an expensive hairspray but it does the trick ~ it's very light on hair so you don't have to worry too much about how much you spray

hint ~ brush out your hair before spraying and comb your hair out after if you only want your hair not 2 frizz
