I know it is the only "general" religion.

Christanity; followers of Christ, Judaism; people of Judea, Buddhism; followers of Buddah

Islam literally means "submit to the will of God"
Muslim means "one who submits to the will of God"

I know it is the only true monothestic religion, we have no trinity and we worship to God.

And I know it is the true religion and God willing others can learn about it

Islam is like any other religion, it can be good for those who follow it, BUT when the fanatics take over, it doesn't matter what religion, then everything turns to crap, because of the power hungry, egodriven idiots that crawl out from under some rock, thinking THEY know whats good for everyone else. THEY are the people that make their religion look bad to the world.

I learned the basics many years ago, in a World Religions class. One book, one deity, one final prophet, no images, face Mecca to pray 5 times a day, etc.

I've also learned from meeting a few Muslims over the years taht the religion isn't all that different from other religions: some dangerous fanatics, some annoying proselytizers, and some easy going non-fanatics. Unfortuantely, people in the first two categories tend to be the loudest.

La ilaha il Allah.

Islam means submission to the will of God, therefore, a sincere Christian or Jew (or even unbeliever) who really seeks the way of God, and works toward righteousness, even if he does not realize it, is a Muslim. May all the Muslims of the world be guided to true Islam.

I've done extensive reading on Islam.

Perhaps the question should read, "What steps, if any, have you actually taken to read, learn about, and understand Islam?" Okay, I'll ask this question.

A lot as it is my religion. I know that ALLAH chose Islam for all mankind. I know that Adam(PBUH*) was the first prophet of ALLAH. I know that the Qur'an is the holy book of Islam and that it was revealed to Muhammed(PBUH*) during Ramadan by the noble angel Jibriel. I know that Islam treats men and women equally and blames both Adam(PBUH*) and Eve for the fall. I know that Isa(PBUH*) is the second to last prophet of Islam who came before Muhammed(PBUH*). Islam is the best religion in the world and will always be protected by ALLAH.

*shrug* it's the holy land..and the jews have been persecuted for their arrogance. Meaning if anyone is that arrogant to call themselves the "Chosen People" in a highly acclaimed book and then turn around and kill their Misah.....need i say more.

I've read enough of the Quran to worry. I'll admit that I haven't read as much of it as I have the Bible, but I saw enough to know where they stand on women, Christians, and domonation.
