im a male teenager and i want a perm. should i go to a salon and get a foam perm or should i just get a wash and set in curlers at the salon because i have allways wanted curly hair and i love the feeling of curlers in my hair and the smell of the perm and the heat under the dryer.

I would suggest to get a set on perm rods. This is not permanent but that way you can see how curls would look on you. Perms on men are very nice (don't pay attention to those who say perms are for woman only, a perm is a device to curl your hair and there is no mentioning of male or female hair in that definition!!!). I totally agree having curlers in your hair is a very nice feeling.

Have you thought maybe about going to beauty school? Some places offer classes while in high school. As for getting a perm, if you don't already have long hair it might not be such a good idea. A lot of guys who get perms look really dorky. And as far as a shampoo/set, definitely not.

Go to the store and buy perm rods and have a friend help you roll it then take it out and see if you really like it so 1 you don't damage your hair and 2 you don't spend money on something that you might not like. Good Luck! :)

My friend Chris got a perm when he lost a bet. Oh how I wish I had a picture of that!
Anyway you can get a perm and if you want one why not? In the 1980s lots of men got perms.

I have men who have had perms in my salon and they had soft perms for just a wave and others had curls and I think it's up to you what look your going for if you want to have a real curly look or a soft gentle wave . You shouldn't feel like you have to explain yourself just go and do what you feel will make you look better and do your hair the way you want . GO for it !!!

YES why not,but go to a salon and have a consultation first,take some pictures of what you have in mind,get advice on how to care for your hair once you've had it done.
