Actually, Adam, monotheism is only a few thousand years old. Hinduism has been around longer than many Christians believe the universe has. It also has more sacred text, probably has more written about it, and saw the invention of paper.

Greek and Roman technology saw calculus, philosophy, and physics before Christianity precipitated what we commonly refer to as the "dark ages".

By the standards of Christianity, of course.

Lasted longer than Paganism? Do mine eyes deceive me? Paganism existed before Christianity, and has continued long after. That is nonsense of the worst kind - Christian!
Only by a Christian standard is Paganism not rational.

I never quite understood that one either. Maybe the pagans were too loving and nice and the Christians came in and shat all over it. It's interesting to note that the Dark Ages really came into play when Christianity was being spread and smeared over the pagans. Bleesed be!

I'd also like to add...ADAM....that Paganism is STILL around.

Paganism is just an umbrella term for a host of different belief systems, spanning from Wiccan to ancient Egyptian practices. I am not sure it can even be defined coherently enough to adjudicate its intellectual coherence. Etymologically, the term pagan simply denotes non-Abrahamic religions.

By the Lavey standard of using the support system of the church for your own financial gain--pagans would see through this ruse and don't have nearly as many programs to abuse

Adam, there are religions in this world that are much much MUCH older than Christianity. You need to learn your history and you should be embarassed to not know it.

Christianity is only rational to those who follow it. The Pagans and Atheists would beg to differ.

Christianity is "somewhat" monotheistic if you disregard the whole trinity (three in one crap).

Paganism calls upon powers and randomly has made a whole word of beings/Gods that somehow rule over the world.

It is much more rational (and correct) to believe in One God than to believe in random higher powers that you randomly decided to give special attributes to

By the standard 'my god is better than yours', which is the excuse most religion zealots use to back up any argument of hatred or intolerance.
"But in the bible, it says..." is another good one, too.

Reasonable and vicious are quite consistent with each other, in fact, only through their union are great and far-reaching crimes possible.
