It's a cult, a greedy, dangerous cult. THIS is why Scientology is controversial:

• Aliens and money - Scientology teach that we are all inhabited by alien spirits. Scientology ALSO is out to get as much money from you as possible. See these links for more information:

• Operation Snow White – Under this program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, & theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

• Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage & violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research & findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette, ruin her career & reputation & get her either incarcerated or locked up in psychiatric confinement.
See the official plan: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Krasel/cooper/frk1.html

• Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront & handle critics & perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”

• Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident & resultantly became mentally unstable. She was kidnapped from the hospital by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment & allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.

• Tragic Murder - A CBS “48 Hours” special on Jeremy Perkins, the mentally disturbed son of Scientologist parents who refused to put him on the anti-psychotic drugs that would have stabilized him & prevented him from killing his own mother.

Scientologist believe that humans have alien DNA in their body so they take a lot of hot baths, sauna's etc. because they believe that heat keeps the alien DNA down and the human DNA up. Then there are certain levels they achieve and Tom Cruise is one below the highest (whatever that means). What a bunch of morons.

have you read about it? They believe we all have alien spirits in us that make us believe in God and religion all together. I would research it, it's pretty nuts. However, they don't tell you about there "Xenu" alien beliefs until you pay so much money "get to a certain level" It is a scam to get peoples money, you have to pay to move up levels. I live in clearwater, FL, the epicenter of scientology outside LA

the so called founder L. Ron Hubbard said in his (great) book Dianetics that his methods of learning and healing were never to be a religion of any kind and no one was to charge for using the same methods. now after his death there are tons of people twisting his words and wishes into a money making scheme. once i read his book i improved my reading ability and decided to contact one of the "Churches" and see about receiving help in other areas, the guy on the phone said i needed to make a contribution and set-up a consultation time.

that's it, People have turned a great book full of knowledge in to something its author never intended; and they are profiting from it.

It was started by a science fiction writer who admitted that starting a religion was the fastest way to make a million dollars.
I wouldn't follow it any more that I would become a Jedi Knight.

I don't think there is any controversy - everyone knows it's an evil cult designed to separate people from their money by any means necessary.
