The thing that is so amazing about God, and praying, Is, we dont have to make an appointment or schedule in a certain place or time. It took me years to understand this...I mean, I would always think to myself..When I get home, Im gonna go in my quite bedroom and pray, or so forth.
I stay pretty consistent on a daily basis, may not be the same time each day..or the same place, But I do make time for prayer.
At a very young age, I remember after I had my first daughter, I have 3 now...I remember, Kneeling down by my bed and praying, that God would begin now, in molding the young man that my daughters would marry someday...I know it sounds weird to some, But I have been praying for my daughters future husbands for years, without knowing who they are...I have prayed.
I always pray at night when I lay down in my bed..I pray for my husband, who is next to me, and my 3 girls, family, friends...and I Thank God for keeping us safe, and in good health...
If Im here at work, and I feel the urge to pray...I pray...We dont have to close our eyes to pray...people dont even have to know we are praying..I just say a pray for whatever is weighing heavy on my mind at that time.
I do try to make a special time, for God, and prayer...Its not been everyday...But I do try to have at least 30 minutes each day, where I sit on my bed with the Bible...and I pray, I study, I do a devotion...Im learning to stay consistent with this prayer time, by how I feel, I feel so close to God, during this time, and afterwards, that I hunger for Gods word. I think that is what has kept me consistent...If we love to study Gods word, and enjoy a certain devotion book, we look forward to that time....
But as far as prayer, Just pray when you can...God hears all our prayers, No matter where you are, or what you are doing...he is there.
I really hope this helps some....
Let me know if you need anything...as far as Devotional Materials, and what I like, and recommend, may not be the best out there, but it sure has made a difference in my life.
God Bless...

I understand your question, I would have wondered the same thing a few years ago. Constant prayer just naturally developed for me. As I was expecting instructions from Jesus on how to improve myself, I just started praying about everything. After awhile it seems like the big things were out of the way, but then I noticed little things. It is easy to become distracted, your focus turns to something else and you forget about the Lord momentarily, as soon as I recognize this I return to prayer and examine my actions while I was without Him so I can know if I made any mistakes. I trust Him for everything, He doesn't fail me.

Simple. Make it a part of your Rule of Life. Don't have a Rule of Life? Then you will always struggle.

Keep regular Hours. The Officium Divinum. Matins. Lauds. Prime. Sext. Terce. None. Vespers. Compline.

To begin with, until you become Proficient, say Matins and Vespers only. Perhaps a brief Office of Compline at bedtime.

You can find many good books on the subject. And websites.

A great book to start with is "Christian Proficiency", by Fr. Martin Thornton.

Choose a time when you know no one will bother you, eg early morning, late night.
Use that time for communion with God, not just petitioning for things to happen.
Pray for a few things instead of a lot of different things and pray until they come to pass. As that happens your faith will increase and you will see prayers answered faster.

When you see your prayers answered you will look forward to the prayer time because you will know the difference you can make.

Muslims pray 5 times a day during certain time periods.

Before sunrise, around noon, afternoon, sunset and night.

When you start doing it for a month it is a hard habit to break and very easy to stay consistent.

Well I pray 5 times a day so I just remember that I am getting good credit by praying the correct number of times a day and I also just block out everything from my mind that doesn't involve praying to ALLAH. It takes some practice to forget everything else in your life and just be there for ALLAH.

Pray that an amputee gets his arm back, and then watch to make sure it happens. Watch consistently.

constently pray! when you see people walking down the raod pray fro protection for them, when you are driving and see someone who looks grumpy pray that the Lord blesses them today, God wants us to talk to Him all day everyday, which as much as He loves us and gave us life, is really a small thing to ask and why wouldn't we want to
