I am currently researching amstaff/pit bulls for a therapy dog for my daughter who is delayed physically and is non verbal. Pit bulls are supposed to be great family dogs and I am getting tired of all the negative remarks people have when I say I am going to get a pit bull. The shelters are full of them because most are uneducated about the breed. Please research and help this great family dog that was very usefull as a farm animal as well. As with any dog it is all in the training. I absolutley love Rhodesian Ridgebacks but the Pit would be more pratical for us.

I have two pups, born within 10 days of each other, but very different dogs. One is a 7-month old Dalmatian and the other is a Golden Retriever.

Goldens are wonderful dogs. Even if they do something "bad", it's almost impossible to get angry. They are so loving, so trusting, so happy. I've been wanting a Golden for a while and everyone that meets him adores him.

I had a Dal before (he sadly passed away last year) and obtained another. Dals are mischievous and often frustrating. They do require more work training. But they are also VERY loyal and good watch dogs. Their faces are full of expression and as angry as you get with them, they are so loving and playful, that you can't help but scoop them up into your lap for hugs.

While my pups do require a lot of work, I wouldn't trade them at all. They are a good set.

Congrats on making a good dog selection, especially if he is for a child.

I'd get a King Charles spaniel.

Some years ago when ours died, we thought of getting another. Because we work by day, we couldn't really get a small puppy. You should have seen the breeder raise her eyebrows when I asked her if she would let us have a two year old dog of hers that she was going to breed from. Would you believe it, I sweet talked her into selling me that dog !!!! She asked for £100 more than the price of the puppy, and after I wrote out the cheque, she kept offering to take the dog back if she didn't settle !!

I waited a few years before going back to that kennel again. (We leave our dogs with her when we go on holiday). She was so pleased to see her dog again, she kept her indoors with her other dogs for the whole holiday period.

I think golden retriever puppies are just lovely.

You've made an excellent choice, our SAM was a golden retriever, he was 13 years old when he passed away and we miss him every day, he gave us so much happiness, all the best.

I think that I would have to have a pit pull puppy. I think that the reason that I would have to pick that puppy is because they look so cute to me I love the colors that they come in and I love how there face looks to me.

I've had my goldie for 11yrs now and I'm going to say that you're a very lucky one to have that Pup...I truly think that goldies make a great pet in anyone's home...They are soooo loyal and they are so giving, unconditionally. That's why America has said for many years now, that they make the top of the list for a family's dog.
Good Luck with your new Pup, and I'm sure his Dad is proud! Just as much as you.

I'd love a Basset Hound puppy. They are so cute with their long ears and big snouts. They are also really good dogs, low maintenance, good with kids. Have fun with your puppy!
