why do you equate envy and jealousy as the same thing? They are completely different. God does not 'envy' satan or us. He is "jealous" over our souls however, meaning He is vitally concerned and zealous for our eternal well being and good. That is not the same thing as "envy."

There are two types of jealousy. There is jealousy based on a reality....ie money, beauty, possessions, success, etc. That's coveting and is the sin you describe.

Then there is jealousy that is a result of some kind of invented 'reality'. One is jealous of unreceived, but deserved recognition, when that recognition is given to something that doesn't exist.

This is what is meant by God being a Jealous God. It is due to mankind misappropriating the gratitude due God.

IT is said, but who said it? It was Moses, okay? Moses is the one who reported "Yahweh" (the current Christian God) as the jealous God who required undivided attention and worship to get into Heaven. Not everyone believes in the Yahweh of Moses, you guessed it...back then Jews believed in a few different Gods and Moses created a new one and those who followed Yahweh were a different type of Hebrew...you had non-Jews and Diaspora Jews....does anyone study history and find out the answers and beginnings of religions in the first place? This is important because people live by these religions, but they don't find out where they began....and if they really new...their minds would change....

The the Catholics ideals of "7 deadly sins" is flawed? lol.

Jealousy is not listed in the Bible as sin. Coveting is.

Jealousy is listed when speaking of God, wanting to be first, and not behind other false Gods, or in context of a husband determining whether or not his wife was unfaithful.
