i dont live in your area, but a good place to find what your looking for would be a bridal fair. they usually advertise them on the radio. you can also find out about them in bridal magazines or on wedding websites. a lot of times you can enter for free stuff like a dj or photographer if you win. you say you dont want a wedding photographer, but you also dont want to look back 20 yrs. from now and wish you had one. my photographer was a wedding one and she was awesome!!! pricey yes, but worth it. i know all about expense. my hubby and i payed for our wedding ourselves. (actually im still paying on i and it was last year .lol!! make sure the dj is good too. ours sucked, since the orignial one backed out at the last min. 9ya, 2 days before the wedding andsent a "replacement") anyway!! good luck to you and check out a bridal fair.

Try looking at the International Special Events Society website (www.ises.com) to see if there are any entertainment or event companies near your area. I'm sure that if you told them you found them off the website, they would be more than happy to refer you to a photographer and DJ or provide the service for you as well.
Photographers are usually $125 - $250 per hour with a four hour minimum, with additional costs for extras. You can really negotiate a rate, but stay away from the wedding photographers because they will want to up-sell you on prints etc. and have restrictions on the use of the images. Some will even keep the negatives. My personal opinion is that these are YOUR photos and not theirs, so don't choose anyone with this rule. They want to charge you for every single print etc.
Try a standard special events photographer and just ask for the original images digitally on a cd with no restrictions on the use of the images. This way you can print & email, as many whenever and wherever you want.
DJ's - For a wedding: probably $600 - $2500 depending on the options and size of audience. Whatever you do - don't go for the cheapest DJ, because you get what you pay for - bad equipment and terrible personality. Usually the good ones charge a bit more because they are in demand, and are really good with the audience, have a great collection of music, and will take requests! Then make sure that they are members of either business or special events industry associations such as ISES, MPI, and especially the BBB. Check their BBB report too. This means that they are not a fly-by-night operation and are here to stay.
Set-up time is usually included in the package, but you'll have to get prices quoted.
Overall - remember why you're getting married and don't worry about the details. Glitches will happen, but enjoy the moment and laugh off any issues.
Hope this helps. Congratulations and good luck!

I'm getting married May 19, 2007! In the west Tennessee area, my photographer is running me about $1400. This includes our engagement pictures and all the typical wedding pictures as well as our reception. Our DJ is actually having to drive about 2 hours outside of Memphis and he is charging us $700.
I wouldn't skimp too much on the pictures! I'm sure you plan on getting married only once, so you want someone that can capture your moments! Also I would choose a photographer who has done weddings and look at their sample albums! I knew someone who chose a photographer who had never done a wedding before and when all was said and done they only ended up with maybe 3 pictures of just the 2 of them!
Good luck and Congrats on the Marriage!

There seems 2 style of posts in this dialogue board approximately wedding ceremony photographers: people finding for a very low priced photographer and people handling the results of hiring an exceedingly low priced photographer. have not got self belief me? Do a seek for "wedding ceremony photographer" and practice for the heartache and problematic memories you will examine. Frankly, it incredibly isn't any longer achievable to grant an appropriate high quality, effective and stable pictures provider for the costs you're searching for. i could advise finding hard at increasing your funds whether you should cut back the visitor record, get a relatives pal to do the video, have somebody guy an iPod or skimp someplace else, or also have a backyard sale. Your pictures are very virtually the only component you're able to have from this adventure years down the line. you're fearful approximately fee now, you would be fearful approximately high quality continuously.

I would post a post on theknot.com in your local area.
My Dj comes free with the cater...
You could ask your cater if she could get you a discount.
Photos range from anywhere to 1,000-10,000 depending on what you want.
Mine is 2,700 for flush mount album, CD of all the pics and the photo proof book- and that includes the photographer for the day.

Both are fairly pricey. Ask around. Maybe a friend of a friend takes good pictures. Keep in mind you get what you pay for and this is a one time (hopefully) memory.
