I mean, docs say dandruff is usually caused by a fungus. Where did I Get mine?

Fungus isn't the only thing to cause dandruff. Dryness of scalp, etc. is another way.
But there are a few ways that the fungal (and possibly other types) can be spread. Sharing hair brushes/combs is probably the biggest way. Having your head come in contact with that of others who have dandruff, and anything along those lines.

Your Doc is a quack----dandruff comes from not rinsing the shampoos out of head good. A build up.
Rinse hair under heavy tub water and use fingers to get all them
bubbles out.
Olive oil on scalp will help u get it out fast.

I always thought/heard/told that dandruff is the result of dry skin and nothing to do with fungus.

mainly the bacteria comes in the air and settles on every bodys scalp.but it gets food only from few,who have generated in their bodies.that is the reason it breeds in some people.get it controlled as advised by your doc
