Because it is a refined sugar that your body does not identify correctly. Do a google search with "dangers of fructose sugars" as your keywords.

"Is fructose bad for us?
A small amount of fructose, such as would be found in most vegetables and fruits, is not a bad thing - in fact, there is evidence that a little bit may be a positive stimulus for proper glucose metabolism. However, too much fructose at once seems to overwhelm the body's capacity to process it. The diets of our ancestors contained only very small amounts of fructose. These days, estimates are that about 10% of the modern diet comes from fructose.

What happens when we get too much fructose?
Most of the carbohydrate we eat is made up of chains of glucose. When glucose enters the bloodstream, insulin release is stimulated, which is the key mechanism regulating glucose in the body. Fructose, on the other hand, is processed in the liver. To greatly simplify the situation: when too much fructose enters the liver, the liver can't process it all fast enough for the body to use as sugar. Instead, it starts making fats from the fructose, and sends them off into the bloodstream as triglycerides."

Cane sugars are sucrose.High fructose corn syrup is just that - primarily fructose. One much-publicized recent study found an association between obesity and high HFCS consumption, especially from soft drinks.

The most troubling aspect of HFCS is how it is made. Three different enzymes are used (alpha-amylase, glucoamylase, and glucose isomerase), all of which are genetically modified products.

Sucrose is composed of glucose and fructose. When sugar is given to rats in high amounts, the rats develop multiple health problems, especially when the rats were deficient in certain nutrients, such as copper. The researchers wanted to know whether it was the fructose or the glucose moiety that was causing the problems. So they repeated their studies with two groups of rats, one given high amounts of glucose and one given high amounts of fructose. The glucose group was unaffected but the fructose group had disastrous results. The male rats did not reach adulthood. They had anemia, high cholesterol and heart hypertrophy--that means that their hearts enlarged until they exploded. They also had delayed testicular development.

?? Corn syrup isn't a natural sugar ??

Then what is? Honey is about the only thing more natural. Maybe mapel syrup, although it has to be concentrated a great deal. Certainly not brown sugar or that white powder we all use.

hmmmm.
