You should definitely homeschool. I'm homeschooled and it is GRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't get to see your friends as much so that is a downer, but you don't lose them. Unless they are so snobby that they won't talk to you if you decide to homeschool. That is their problem. And you do get to go outside. There are tons of homeschool groups that have "Park Day". You can even take your schoolwork and take it outside and do it like at the park. Know what's my fave part of homeschooling. I get to where my PJ's. Also, the schedule is flexible and if you wanted to you could get ahead in your schoolwork and end they school year early. So while all of the other kids are inside in school, you are out having a blast doing whatever you want to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you have some ways to find your own friends from outside school, you will definitely lose them. So you have to consider: are friends more important? Or are you really willing to give up those quality time you receive, and is able to receive if you continue public school, for homeschooling, for being stuck at home.

I gave up public school when I was in 8th grade for homeschooling and i am now in 12th grade because things weren't going too great in school. I miss out a lot of things like homecoming and prom. And i miss those times I spent in school with my friends, those times I had a crush on some guy, and i miss those times I go shopping or play sports with my friends after school. Those teenager things that I have missed out. Those are precious memories, and I guess it's a regret that I cannot get it back because I am already in 12th grade.

But in homeschooling, I realize i am BETTER at self-studying, self-motivating, better at finding resources, than before, and i grow a lot. I develop a character on my own, unlike some other kids my age who are still, i'll say, immature and childish.

I didn't know how to find friends not until 11th grade, when I went out there and got myself a job, so it was pretty depressing the first 3 years. So.. really if you think you can find friends outside school, then go ahead.

First of all

1.just because someone is home schooled doesn't mean s/he will have better grades.

2. Sure some things at school are not going to great, but there is also a lot of things going great in schools. And yes, the same goes for home school

3. Yes that is very true, you can get very tired of seeing the same people everyday. But in home schooling wouldn't you get tired of seeing the same people everyday also? But that's normal for everyone to get tired of someone else.

4. Losing your friends, no. Now let me tell you if their really your friends they will still be friends with you home schooled or not.

5. Being home schooled doesn't mean that your stuck in the house all day. But you can do that if want to.

Whatever you decide to do, you do what you think is best for you. Do what you think will make you happy. Don't listen to anyone else (that includes me), this is your life.

Good luck!

You reasons 1-3 sound like great reasons to homeschool!

For your reasons not to homeschool, why would you lose your friends? Would they be unwilling to chat with you on the phone, come over for dinner, do things on the weekend? Homeschooling is kind of like changing to another school--old friendships can still be maintained.

And why would you be stuck in the house all day? Is there no way for you to get out? Is there nothing for you to do where you live during the day? No homeschool groups? No field trip opportunities? No library to go to once a week? No places to volunteer? I homeschool my kids. So far we've been out every day this week. Were out Tuesday afternoon. Were out Wednesday afternoon. Were out yesterday morning. Were out this morning and part of the afternoon. While we're not out usually quite this much, we're out at least twice a week, usually three times a week.

Homeschooling does not have to mean staying at home!!!

Well, first of all, you shouldn't lose your friends. I kept my friends from public school after I was homeschooled. Also, you would be able to get out. I got out more after I was homeschooled than when I was in public school. You have some very good reasons to homeschool. If you are a high school student, look into these programs (if at all possible). www.pennfoster.edu
www.americanschoolofcorr.com
I went through the American School for my last two years of high school, and now I am in one of Penn Foster's career diploma courses. I have friends who are taking the Penn Foster high school courses. Both are good, and both are accredited.
And you will not become socially retarded. I am very social. I was shy when I was in public school, but homeschooling actually made me more confident in myself.

Everything is true. Except for that last 2. Why you wouldn't want to. I'm almost in the 7th grade and have been home schooled all of my life. Now, my best friend just started home schooling this year. She was afraid of the same things. But she didn't loose any friends, if anything, she gained friends. You just have to be in a lot of activities. And in every area, there are home school groups. Parents gather round to share their way of teaching, while the kids just hang together and do whatever! And there are also home school activities. Like home school tennis. Just regular tennis. Only during school hours and with other home school kids. There's also home school gymnastics, softball, band, and everything else you can think of! And I'm also in karate, piano, tennis, home school band, and I also used to do a lot of other things. And my best friend, she still kept in touch with all her old friends. She called them, they hung out, went to their houses, and everything!!! Good luck.

Absolutely, without a doubt you should home-school! I love it! That's what I've done my whole life and I am prepared for the world and I love every minute of being taught by my Mom and being in a loving environment! You shouldn't have to lose any of your friends, and you certainly won't be cooped up in the house all day! When you're done with school be just as active as you would be when you get home from your public school! Trust me girl, you won't miss out on anything! :)

True...its good, but you do need a tutor..don't do it on your own it could be very very stressful. But yes, those things are true. But as far as friends...you'll have friends when you are done with school. Friends can be a distraction sometimes. And if they are your real friends they'll still be there for you. Just do you right now..finish school..go to college. Don't worry about that other stuff cause people f-up your life when your being needy. But just get out on weekends. You can do it, I think its a great idea. Just put in 8 hours, plus breaks M-F and enjoy your weekends.

Well, I have friends who go to school, and I don't mind, and do you really want to see them everyday? There will be times when homeschooling gives you cabin fever, but do something with your family, or meet some homeschoolers friends, take a walk, or help somebody where you live. Oh, you'll love homeschooling, enjoy it, enjoy it

Now you understand that in every choice you make in life there are consequences. Now you have to understand at what you want to gain and what you want to lose. You need to way out the pros and cos.

Do you want a better education? Will you really lose your friend or would have time to see them on weekends? Is there any chance of gaining alone time in school, maybe a quiet spot or library? Why arent things in school going so great? Is there any way to improve it or is it that serious that you really need to get away?

Only you can answer these questions, and the only way to answer it is to figure out what you really want!
