Because they were written by 3 different people. I guess each one saw something different.

All of the Gospels say two theives were crucified with Christ.

Matthew 27:38
Mark 15:27
Luke 23:39-43
John 19:18

Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
Mark 15:27

There was only one cross that day that really mattered. You will find it in all 4 Gospels.
