Well, Jesus was a healer, Luke was a physician and seems to have kept practicing medicine even after he was a Christian. We encounter depression several times in the Bible, and I do not find anywhere that God wants us to ignore this disease. Indeed, there are times when antidepressants are overused, but God also gave us the ability to learn, discover, invent, and use medicines and medical techniques. If only on the example of Luke, I would say that medicine, when used properly, is acceptable. Don't forsake the Lord in your depression; but don't forsake those who care for you, including, counsellors and doctors as well as your friends and family.

Personally, I would not be comfortable taking a pill for such things. Depression comes from within and so does the cure. I know people who do take these medications and it does seem to help them. I just wonder, do they have to take these pills for the rest of their life, does the pill only mask the symptoms? If someone is depressed enough to be harmful to self or others, that is different. There is an emergency, that needs to be treated as such.

I support the use of antidepressants if used along with therapy. Unless it is a life long problem such as bi-polar, they should be short term to help you as you overcome the problem and learn coping skills.

the character of your question excludes using scripture to reply to it, as others might use opposing scriptures to reply to in yet in a various way, even nonetheless the Bible would not contradict itself. One key to ideal analyzing scripture is, CONTEXT. as a result a doctrine must be weighed up in accordance to the context of the verses it became in line with and in context to the financial disaster and message of the Bible as an entire. the main fool evidence way for people who've won the present is obviously to determine the fact with the aid of the indwelling Spirit of fact.

I am a Christian and I think people should take it if they need it.

Just like medicine for a physical ailment, chemical imbalances, depression, and similar mental ailments should be adressed by doctors, and their recommended treatments followed.

Most emotional problems such as Anxiety, Depression, etc, are caused by spiritual illness and/or demonic oppression. No psychologist or medication can help you with that.

Many people have made psychiatry their religion!!!

Unless the depression is caused by a chemical imbalance beyond a person's control(similare to type 1 diabetes), anti-depressents only serve the purpose of weakening Christians, making it easier for Satan to pull you away from the Lord.

When we are unforgiving, meditate on past memories, and lack trust in God(which causes us to look for solutions on our own), it gives demonic influence a foothold into our lives, and creates all types of spiritual strongholds.

We are to depend 100% on God. Worry, fear, depression, etc is not our concern. The Lord didn't design us to deal with those things on our own. He didn't design us to deal with them at all.

1 Peter 5:7 says cast all your cares upon the Lord because He cares for you. According to scripture, and as shown by Jesus, God is our Healer, Comforter, and Counselor.

Note: Statistics show the majority of people are misdiagnosed when they first meet with mental health professionals. Which means millions of people are currently on meds, who don't need them, and they are suffering because of these human errors. Thus, I would advise everyone to use caution when accepting medication for something such as depression. Blessings, Miji

oppose. "The joy of the Lord is my strength."
"He turns mourning into dancing." "This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it."
He is the divine healer and the Almighty God--we are supposed to bring everything to Him in faith and turn it over to Him through prayer.
