Feng Shui is about understanding the secrets of how energy moves in our surroundings and how the style of our buildings and interiors affect us at a subtle level. It involves harnessing beneficial chi to enhance the success and good fortune of the individual. ( http://www.naturallyconnected.com.au/fengshui.htm)
If you google feng shui, what is feng shui, how to make feng shui work for me? there are tons of sites about it. From my understanding, it's basically achieving a balance of all aspects of your life in order to enhance your life......as for whether or not it works..........if you believe you and your surroundings can be affected by how you position things in your house or what you surround yourself with.....then yes it works...for example......adding a fountain to your home(which is one item often seen by practicioners of feng shui)....what's more soothing than the trickling of a water fall...and add it to your home......if you are calm there.....that calmness will spill over into other areas of life..therefore the balance is achieved.....hope that helps

I bought a book to try to learn about it and understand the changes I could make . But frankly it made me crazy trying to learn about it.

I know sharp corners are bad and should be avoided or disguised. Mirrors have importance (I have a lot of them) and open toilets allow good luck to flush away.

That is about all I learned. I know directions are important. But trying to deal with an existing house makes that hard.

Good Luck.

Of course it works. It is all about creating openess and an easy flow around the home. It is more about a way of life that is relaxing and inspiring. Study it, you can't go wrong.
