I have tried to open the firewall in the control panel and but it just states that it cannot open it. How do I open the firewall?
I am worried that I don't have any security on the computer and when I have tried to download anti virus software it will not install.

Windows Firewall isn't the best firewall to have, it's very weak.

My guess would be that your computer is infected. You could try downloading adaware and spybot to see if you have spyware and whatnot infecting your computer. Viruses and spyware will cause windows firewall not to run and can prevent your antivirus from running or stop you from installing an antivirus program.

It sounds like you are already infected. Try installing in Safe Mode. Also download HijackThis from www.merijn.org and run it in Safe Mode with the "Scan and Save Logfile" button, then post the logfile hijackthis.log on the hijackthis forum on www.castlecops.com or www.tomcoyote.com or email it to me and I can advise you further.
