Firstly, which revolution are you speaking of?
There was the Russian Revolution of 1905, where there was uprising, strikes and anti-government protests.
Then the Russian Revolution of 1917, more commonly known as the October Rebellion of the Bolsheviks which eventually led to the formation of the Soviet Union in 1922. A communist government based on Carl Marx idea of communism, Marx’s most famous quote is not about his hatred of capitalism, but about his hatred of religion. “Religion is the opiate of the people,” he said, equating religion with the most addictive and deadly drugs of his time. Marx wanted religion abolished, and he made forced atheism a formal part of communism.

Jews practice of religion was pretty much against the law. The Russian government in no way allowed it, let alone encouraged it.

The Jews were violently persecuted in Russia both before and after the Russian Revolution. Some believe Stalin rivaled Hitler in persecuting the Jews. Even when the Communist government of the USSR became more civilized, after Stalin, Jews were trying to leave the USSR in droves.

Jews in Russia risked life and limb to practice their faith....and many paid the ultimate price. Further, records from the Stalin era show that, if Papa Joe had lived, he was set to purge the Soviet Union of all Jews in Hitlerian style. Thank God for small miracles.

Excuse me....but Jews were oppressed and killed under the Stalinist regime...were NOT allowed to practise religion, and the USSR funded Syria, and trained their army, to attack Israel.

Read a history book.

I've always wondered about this "banning".
Can anyone actually point to a document that says "religion is banned"?
I know we were taught that in school, and I'm sure it has a basis somewhere, but does anyone actually know where that came from?
