I have a speadsheet with a long list of negative numbers. For example, -000465000. I need to convert these all and move the decimal four places from the negative sign. The example would show -4.65 after the conversion. Thanks

Assume you have your numbers in col. A starting in cell A1. In cell B1 enter the following formula:

=A1/100000

Format B1 as a number with 2 decimal points (Format - Cells... - Number)

Copy and paste from B1 down through the last row in B where you have numbers in col. A.

I don't have excel at home, so I cant do it to test it, but try and work out by how much you would need to times it to make it -4.65.

It would be a figure in the range of 1000000 (with maybe one more or less 0 )

Then you would do =1000000*(first cell:last cell)
so it could be for example

=1000000*(C2:C20)

I think you need to format the cells to scientific or engineering notation. try that and see.
