Ladies, listen up: from the man's perspective
Keep the word "WANT" as a value and priority.
You WANT to do things for him. He WANTS to do things for you that you like.
This ideology keeps it fresh and appreciative, i.e. he doesn't need to cheat because he WANTS to spend his free time with you; he doesn't need to hang with the fellas as much because he WANTS to take you out and show you off; etc..
ONCE one party drops the "WANT" and begins feeling obligated/expecting/demanding - one side weighs more and begins to FIND problems.
Review that key value and you'll be good.

Learn to see the humor in things that would normally piss you off. I do crazy things that drive my wife nuts and she does things that make me nuts. We really just laugh them off because two poeple from different backgrounds can only hope to find common ground at best. She folds T-shirts different then I do. I forget to close the closet door at night. Silly things that should be kept in perspective.
Now the hot part isnt much of a problem. You must truely desire to give more then receive. If both partners are doing this it can help but be hot. The green M&M doesnt hurt either - J/K

i think picking your battles is a good idea.. don't fight and aruge over silly little things that don't really matter...
being understanding of where the other person is coming from.. and not being judgemental of them

Don't argue over dumb things,don't be jealous.Also be honest with that person.Do share some of their interests,do help them out when they need it.
