I have a male 5 years old and a female less than a year old both pugs. The female has one growth on its outer lip and the male has four, two on each side of the mouth near the back molars. The growths look like a fungus or wart and they do not seem to be affecting them adversely in any way. If anyone knows what they are and how to possibly treat them any info would be great. The female was just fixed a week and a half ago. I am not sure exactly when the dogs got them.

You need to let the vet have a look and possibly take a sample for testing. It may be some simple or maybe not.

My friend's dog picked up something like this at the dog park... If the growths are white it's probably the same thing. You really should have the vet look at it for a diagnosis. Her vet told her that they only pick it up from direct contact with an infected dogs mouth. She remembered her dog sharing a ball with a dog she didn't know at the park. It got really bad with her pups mouth full of these gnarly growths. It took a few weeks but it cleared up and now you would never know it ever had them. But for a while she said her dogs mouth looked like a horror movie.

Hope your pup is ok.

It is probably one of two things, a viral infection that cause growths, or melanoma which isn't good at all. I would get a biopsy asap if I were you, because if it is melenoma, they usually spread to the mouth from the stomach and it's usually too late at that point to do anything. I have seen a young dog whose came in for nuetering whose entire mouth was crowded with white growths that looked like little warts or calliflowers and the prognosis was not good for him, and his was viral. Get to the vet soon. Good luck

I have a small (5 pounds full grown) brussles griffon and when she was four months I felt a small ball about 1/8th of an inch under her skin on her back...out of the blue. Brought her to the vet and they said not to worry. Within three days the that little ball had grown to a two inch lump that was no longer mobile . It was surgically removed, an later determined that it was cellulitis which began attaching to the muscles around her rib cage. Very dangerous for humans as well as animals. Now she is fine. A scar on her back but she is fine.

It sounds like your Pugs have contracted the Canine Papilloma Virus. Don't try and freeze, crush, or pop them, as they run their course and go away on their own. However you stated that the virus is in the dogs mouth, and therefore they need to see the vet for antibiotics for pain, swelling and bad breath.
