I suggest you tell her, "I'd love to chat but I'm busy right now," and walk away. Do this each and every time she starts to chew your ear off and she'll eventually get the hint.

Your co-worker has 'communication issues' and may not 'know' that she's bothering you or 'boring you blind' ... so have a nice quiet 'talk' with her over a cup of coffe outside the office, and tell her that you have a 'problem' in 'thinking about the work I'm doing' because what she says is so IMPORTANT, and then ask her to not 'say anything' while you are trying to work. Believe it or not, by saying the 'exact opposite' of what she's 'actually doing' is the problem, she's much more likely to 'shut up' when you claim that you have this 'bad problem' ... because she'll want to 'help you out' by being 'quiet' but you'll just make her 'angry' by telling her that she's talking about 'nothing' and you just wish she'd 'shut up.'

First of all, the deli dept. is regulated under federal food handling guidelines. If there were worms on a table, where did they come from? I would call the dept. of health and file a complaint. They will have inspectors in there in a heartbeat. I would also start documenting her harassment. You would have to tell the manager above the deli manager that you are being harassed and that if it doesn't stop, you will go further with your complaint. If you do not feel that this is safe for you to do, go to the GM's boss. I am assuming that this is a Walmart store. If it is a Walmart, call the corporate office and ask who to talk to. Your store should have a poster listing the progression in management to lodge complaints with. I would also look for another job. If you have been on the job for 2 years, you have credibility and a work history. It is easier to find another job when you are working. Good luck.

You can, but be prepared for her to turn on you with a vengeance. Anytime you try and tell someone something in a nice way, they will become offended. If you don't believe this try the Arts and Humanities section. If you tell someone there you don't like their poetry, or their story) after they ask for opinions, and you do it in a nice way (or even a not so nice way) they turn on you. So you see, no matter how nice you try and be in these situations, you are in a no win situation. The same applies to your problem. Tell her, but be prepared for hurt feelings and some nastiness in return. I can gurantee it!

Anonymously e-mail her to no end! Create a new e-mail account with her name on yahoo or something and send it to her work e-mail address all day with random messages about NOTHING. You could include links about annoying others by talking about NOTHING; this may straighten out the problem a bit!

If not, it will drive her crazy having e-mails coming in to her from herself! Use the computers at your local library.

Pretend she is a man who is trying to date you but you aren't interested. That should work.

You could also try kissing her. It works when my significant other is talking too much. You'll have to check your HR dept for policies on displays of affection.

I felt compelled to offer some non-standard answers.

Why not introduce her to that brand new, amazing fun game: "WHO CAN SAY NOTHING AT THE OFFICE THE LONGEST?"

The losers have to buy the winner a drink!

People like that do not take "little hints"...you have two choices, put up with it, or be rude and suffer the possible consequences.
