please be Colorado....please be Colorado...please be Colorado. I agree with the other guy about the altitude. It would be a new and unique twist into setting up and tuning the cars for altitude and there is definitely enough support here in the region to justify a track. Please be Colorado!!!

This is actually a pretty good question as those two are in the press lately, but you cant forget about KENTUCKY. I think it will be pretty hard to pass up Kentucky since it has already went to court and they sell out and then some every event. The west coast still really hasn't proved itself.

I use to live in Colorado and we had a track in Fountain, CO PPIR and it was a great track and they raced Busch, IRL Craftsman Trucks and so on, but never could get the crowd to show it could handle the Cup and ended up going under which sucks cause the drivers loved it.

Washington would be a tough track to do as it doesnt have steady weather, but it is beautiful and I am not sure they would get the crowds either. Denver, has had a few tries as well and just cant keep a track going other than Bandameir (Can't Spell today) Drag Strip and it has been struggling.

I am banking on Kentucky but I do know NASCAR is still trying to get the WEST involved so wouldn't be surprised to see Washington get it.

Back in 1972, Winston Cup did indeed think about having someone build a track in the Seattle area as to claim the 4 corners of the lower 48 states. After a 2 year study the "Officials" could not agree on a week in which to run a race. Why? Because the ones doing the survey (none of which lived in the area) agreed that because of rainy days a race couldn't be done on the same dates year-in and year-out. I found an article in vintage racing on the web. Even though Winston West series has successfully raced for years in your area. But on a bright note...look at the National race on rain tires last month. A big hit and fun to watch. So, never say never...there is always hope.

NASCAR will never build a race track in Colorado you Homer. The air and altitude does strange things to cars.

SO it's not gonna happen.

I heard a RUMOR that Colorado is being looked at. I'm not sure exactly where though.

Edit: I got this off topix.net. The International Speedway Corporation is looking at two sites in Adams County. One site is in Aurora off Interstate 70, near the Watkins exit, directly south of the Front Range Airport. The other site is in Commerce City between the 88th Avenue overpass and 96th Avenue exit on E-470.

Most likely Washington from what I have heard is the best possibility for a track if they do build one at all.
But could you imagine a track in the thin Rocky mountain air??? Football, baseball, basketball and hockey players hate going up into the Rocky mountain air.....imagine a driver in a car for 200+ laps going round and round. (thats a definite ticket for passing out and not have the alcohol in the blood to blame for it)

I know DW & Richard Petty & Greg Biffle are trying to get a track built in Washington state, I think that either place would be a good place to have a track.

I'd love to see a track built in Brian France's front yard, that way perhaps he could get some of his stupid a** rules right. He is WAY IN OVER HIS HEAD. Someone needs to save nascar from him.
