If it a good fresh tomato , it will last. Is OK.
You could also take it whole and cut it when u eat. Or just bite into it.

You could carry the tomato whole and cut it at work.

it takes a lot long than six hours for fruit to go rotten.

I really wouldn't worry :)

however if you want to scare yourself go read http://fruitandvegetablesafety.tamu.edu/Consumers/Tomatoes.pdf

which seems a little bit over zealous to me. I mean, how would we manage packed lunches??

tomatoes can keep O.K. for a day -keep it relativly cool
tomato sauce is rather durable(safe)the acidity
inhibits spoiling a bit
don't try this with an avocado
allways eat fresh to live healthy
.............*d

if it,s fresh at the time you cut it ,it should be good to go.actually it would be good for a couple days as long as it,s stored right.
