Why are so many girls under 18 getting pregnant nowaday and have a loser boyfriend who is 3 to 5 years older than them?

I'm 23 and I have few sources of income, I make a bit more than average people. Yet I still haven't even start to think about buy a house and I shudder at the thought of having a child. Also I remeber in high school I and my friends have sorta of a phobia of having children at a such young age.

I'm still scratching my head as I try to figure out how could having a baby and a boyfriend who have criminal record and low paying career being a such great thing. What's the explaination for this?

My_Two_Centz you sound bitter.

I avoid underage girls at all cost. However that probably is because I go after college educated girl who can actually carry on a intelligent consveration and have sparkle of hope in her eyes. Also if you can find a non Slavic girl that I would like to date, I would die of heart attack.

Yes it is sad. I live in South TX and in our county we have more teen pregnancies that any other county in TX! It's sad to see these little girls walking around with babies when they are still babies themselves. Ithink parents, schools and any other influences our kids have must embed into these kids minds that having sex at 12 or 13 or even 16 isn't worth the outcome - pregnancy, STD, HIV, etc. Many kids nowadays don't have a good influence at home with so many single parent households and so many parents just not giving a crap. If you notice the majority of teenage parents are from low income families and if you look into their backgrounds they have been through neglect, abuse, etc. These young girls are trying to find someone to love them because they don't get it from their parents IMO.

I dont know, but I agree with you. Im seeing it everywhere, mainly in my hometown which kills me, because when I was that age, my parents made sure I UNDERSTOOD how serious pregnancy and sex could be. They didnt sugarcoat things like parents do today, and just let their kids do whatever. Girls arent careful these days, and I actually know someone going through that. She is only 15 and pregnant- the guy is only 16. Hes going about his everyday life while she is dropping out of school and giving up everything to have his child. He's not trying to get a job or even thinking about the future OR the kid. So she's made a decision that I'm sure part of her will always wish she had done differently, once she sees how alone she will be when the kid gets here. Im sure she will have SOME happy times, but they will be few and far between with that kind of non-existant support coming from him and his family. They will simply be an unhappy couple, settle down on "welfare" and pretend to be happy. When she could have done anything else if she would have simply been CAREFUL!

I got pregnant at age 17. I had been going out with my boyfriend for 4 years and we just wanted to have sex and we did...I was stupid and should have been safe. I thought my life was over, being head cheerleader and all, and I was devastated. Now, my son is 3 1/2 and I am so glad to have him. I am going to college and about a yr away from having a bachlors in biology planning to go to med school. I know that getting pregnant young isn't a good thing, but you can make the best of your situition sometimes. By the way, I am still with my then boyfriend..we have been married for almost 2 yrs.

Well let me reverse the question. How come so many 23 year old guys are dating underage girls/getting them pregnant and risking jail time to do it? When you're still a "baby" dating an older guy can seem appealing. I have NO idea what the guys are thinking.

Oh no, not bitter. Not in the least. I just like looking at both sides of the coin and to look at things as a whole, not just one piece of it.

Teenage girls in this day and age are finding themselves pregnant because they are, first of all, lacking guidance from their parents (or love). I really don't think its a lack of education. We all know what the results are from not using birth control...pregnancy or STD's.

Secondly, due to this lack of "love" in their lives they get pregnant so that they will have someone to love and love them in return.

Also, these girls believe that they will be able to keep their boyfriends if they have the boys baby....which usually ends in heart ache because teenage boys want to play around...but not deal with the consequences....but I will admit there are some teenage boys out there that do actually take responsibility when they impregnate a girl...but statistically it isn't often which is unfortunate for the child.

I think it's sad as well. I don't know what can be so appeasing about having a baby! It's such a big responsibility! I think these young girls think that they are in love and indeed it's just infatuation!!! lol Don't get me wrong every woman would love the joy's of bearing a child for there significant other! But there is a time for everything!!! And now is not the time for these young girls!! BABIES ARE NOT THE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason so many teenagers have kids today can easily be blamed on their parents who allowed their kids to rule the househole... Another reason is lack of adeuqate knowledge... Another reason is the same cell phone we allow our kids to have at such an early age...

Many people argued that cell phones have no effect in a child's intimate behavior... Well, such thought is unwise because late nights call usually influences sexual behavior.

" I love you. Have you ever been kissed? It's cool to have a boyfriend. He's so cute... Have you ever had blowwww job? What does your penis/vagina look like?"

These comments influences the mind, triger sexual behavior and desire, which eventually lead to pregnancy.

A child who doesn't have a phone can only have few conversation about intimacy at school. Of course a lot of things happen at school, but curious girls, who are uncertain of their sexual feelings, don't get rude at school but rather get rude over the phone... I strongly recommend parents to restrict their kids from using phones; they will be eligible to have a phone at age 18 for best result..

I am not a kid anymore, I am in my 20's and when my girl calls me, I usually get horny over the phone.

I think alot of these girls are craving attention they never got from their fathers (at least that is the psychological basis for this) so they go after older guys who give them attention. These guys take advantage of how naive these girls are and they don't even bother thinking about birth control. I think some girls want someone who will love them unconditionally so they think that having a baby will solve that. It's sad because it makes their lives harder and it is not a good environment to bring a child into.

The explanation probably isn't the most logical but it's the best I can come up with...

Sounds like you are very goal orientated and have a good head on your shoulders. Good luck!

It takes two people to have a kid! If someone thinks they are responsible to have sex than I guess they are ready to have a kid. Im 23 and I have 2 kids but I was married to the father. I guess people dont want to have kids at an older age anymore because they would like to run around and still have their inner-child around their kids. It has nothing to do with them being sluts or the guys being losers. Look at the world today and see all the things that are happening. ALot has changed we all just have to deal with it. Just for someone to bring a child to the world doesnt mean they are a slut, its a blessing to everyone.

not sure about your question but I had my first son when I was 16 yes with someone that isn't even alive any more. I am very glad I started early, I think that is the reason my boys and I are so close. I hate to see old couples having kids and they cant even keep up with them. I love having the energy and spunk to act like a kid with my kids. There is nothing wrong with starting a family young. My son is not 13 and we still have a great life and I have great kids. It is tough being a single mom (I'm not anymore though) but when you love your kids you will do anything for them.
