Psychotropic medications have made a huge difference. They don't always work, and no treatment of any sort for any disease works as well as the public want/expect them to, but calling them shoddy is more than unfair.

I have never had faith in the pharmaceutical companies... I know first hand because I have worked for them... and in the mental health fields...

I believe in psycho-corrective behavior therapy with NO medication what so ever. Any psychiatrist will tell you in the confines of their inner circle how they really don't know what a med will do until they actually give it to the patient... Their famous last word excuse is always, "Psychiatry is an imperfect science." HOGWASH!

The only people who actually need meds are those who are so severely schizophrenic they can't function without it... and even they can be healed through diet changes, proper health and nutrition and therapy but over time.

I don't believe that the FDA had recalled Ritalin. They have required that the medications for ADHD revise their warning / Black Box notices regarding the possibility of sudden death.

All medicines have side effects...even aspirin. To vilify all pharmaceuticals as shoddy is unfair and untrue.
